Photograph of Lara KhansaLARA KHANSA has been appointed associate dean for undergraduate programs after serving in the interim position since August. Khansa joined Virginia Tech as an assistant professor in 2008 and was promoted to associate profes- sor in 2013. In 2015, she served on the steering committee for Envisioning Virginia Tech Beyond Boundaries.

CRYSTAL JEFFERSON has joined the Pamplin Advancement team as director of engagement. She served as director of development for institutional diversity since 2013, and was previously major gifts and annual fund officer at Virginia State University.

Jefferson earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing management from Virginia Tech. She has a master’s in media management from Virginia State and a certificate in fundraising management from the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

As director of engagement, Jefferson will oversee relationship management with the college’s advisory boards and lead and support activities related to planning, organization, execution, and communication of internal and external events to promote the college’s strategic goals.

Professors Emeritus

Photograph of John M. PinkertonJOHN M. PINKERTON, the SunTrust Professor of Finance, has been named SunTrust Professor Emeritus. A member of the university community since 1977, Pinkerton taught more than 20 courses and served as the director of the department’s Ph.D. program for five years.

Photograph of Deborah CookDEBORAH COOK, Verizon Professor of Business Infor- mation Technology, has been named Verizon Profes- sor Emerita. She is known as an outstanding teacher and researcher. Cook was a member of 22 doctoral committees and served as editor-in-chief of the Production and Inventory Management Journal.
